How to object to local development - The ‘Recent Submissions’ on the left hand
side of this page is a new part of our web-site. Its aim is to help local residents to
prepare objections to inappropriate development in a good format,
for submission to Hornsby Shire Council. It also gives access to recent submissions the Trust has made,
with interested local residents, to maintain the amenity of our special area.
Our New Councillors - Following the Trust’s Meet the Councillors forum at
the Cheltenham Recreation Club, immediately preceding the September Hornsby Shire Council
elections, Mayor Nick Berman, and Councillor Robert Browne were re-elected and Councillors
Michael Hutchence and Andrew Martin (Greens) were elected to represent us.
Full details of these are accessible via the Councillors button on the right hand side of this page.

Spring Walk - Sunday 24 August 2008, starting from Thornleigh Oval (Ferguson Street).
During this walk with a difference we looked at some of the upper reaches of the
Lane Cove National Park – some historic pathways and a near pristine stream!
An informative and fun afternoon, with good guidance from Trust members.

Road Closure Copeland Road, Beecroft - 15 February to 'sometime' in 2009.
Despite your Trust seeking advice from the New Station Master,
and from our NSW MP Greg Smith SC, not much progress has been made on replacement
of this important link across the rail line. Rumour has it that the steel needed is not available – let’s hope it is not another NSW budget cut!

Hornsby Herbarium For many years, Beecroft resident, Jenny Lewis,
has been collecting, identifying and pressing specimens of plants found in the Hornsby shire.
Whilst she was part of a team, we know that the majority of the work was done by her.
Hornsby Library holds some 30 volumes of these specimens. This is work in progress and many more species will be added during the year.
Hornsby Council has now put this herbarium on line.
Plants may be selected by location, type, colour and by common or botanical name.
Images of the plants are available. This will be a valuable resource for the community.
Beecroft Cheltenham Civic Trust congratulates Jenny and Hornsby Council for this great initiative.
